School Play and Mom is tired!

The girls school bus, stops just outside our doorstep, at the end of the block, 1 house away.

But Bree has hardly ridden it all year long.  

First, it was early morning Choir.  The first half of the year, until the Christmas concerts.  

She really loves being involved, but it makes my life a little more difficult.  

I've had to get up early, all school year long, get her ready, feed her, pack her lunch, and drive her to school, and then come back and do it all over again with Elle, so that she can ride the bus.  All the while taking care of Ruby as well.  I'm tired!

So, after Christmas break, it's been the School Play!  

Early every morning, driving to the school.  And then to top it all off, Elle broke her arm, and I've been driving her as well.  She was very fragile the first few weeks after breaking it.

I've also, been walking, and exercising again, and training for the Ogden Half Marathon.

I'm not even sure that Chris and I ever get to see each other.  

Driving to the school at least 3 times a day, finding time to get all my workouts in, dinner, homework, baths,  activities, Dr. appts, and I think I've decided that I'm pooped!

It's a good thing that the play is over in about 4 more days, because I'm going to have to cut something, so I can keep going.

It's time for a Vacation!  And maybe a date with my husband :)

Ok, so Mom is tired...

 

But, the show must go on!!  ha..ha. 

 

And so it is.......

 

Last night, was the first performance of the school play.

I had to go early, to help out.  Set up chairs, number them, hand out programs, etc.. 

Lets keep it real for a second,  

The school is not really set up for this kind of thing.  You have 500 people crammed into a tiny little gym, and if you're not on the first 3 rows, you can't see a thing.  And it was super hot in there.  I didn't get good seats, because Elle broke her arm, the week tickets went on sale and I didn't even remember until the next week.  It is what it is.  I got a few pictures from the back of the room, and they're ok.  

On the upside, they are making a DVD of the play, and I'm buying one.  Maybe I'll have a better view?  Even Chris mentioned, that maybe when it's time to perform, that they use the High School Auditorium.  Now that's a brilliant Idea! 

I don't want you to think that I'm being negative, but remember, (Mom is tired!),  so yes, I am kind of being negative, but I'll pull out of it.  We all have our moments, and I've just reached one of those moments, where I need something to give.  Or in this case, next week after the play is over and my girls are BOTH......Together...... at the same time.......riding the school bus....... to and from school...... things will be a whole lot easier for the last 3 months of the school year!  

 

But really, it's all about Bree, and her desire to be involved, and have experiences, and opportunities, and to most of all have FUN!  And I want that for her as well :)

 Oh yeah, and don't judge my horribly makeup job!  Unbelievable!!.... I'm going to have to do better tonight.  Back to the store for some real eyeshadow.  I just hardly wear makeup anymore.  What is wrong with me!  ha..ha..

Valentines, Walking, and A Broken Bone!

Busy life....

I've been trying to blog for a couple of weeks now, but my computer is seriously on it's last leg!
Everytime I tried, something would happen and the computer would crash.
So frustrating.  I actually can't believe it's happening now, but I'll take what I can get!

I'm not even sure things are in the right order, but here it is....

A few days before Valentines, I had bought the girls some Wendy's for dinner one night.  And Elle happened to find a chicken nugget shaped like a HEART.
We thought that was pretty fun and so did she :)

My Valentines Decor.  I don't have much, but the about 5 things I have, do the job!

On Thursday February 12th, 2 days before Valentines day, I got a call from the Elementary school, and they told me that Elle had broken her arm.  What?  Seriously.  No way!  No one in my family, had ever broken a bone.  And neither had Chris.
When I got to the school, her arm had a magazine wrapped around it, held together with elastics.  Very creative of the office ladies if you ask me.
So I called Elle's Dr. office, and asked them how we should proceed.  They don't have an XRAY machine, so we'd have to go the the Davis Hospital for xray's first.  And we did.  Oh yeah, it was VERY broken!  We then proceeded to the Dr. office, so they could splint it for us, until the next day, when we could see the Orthopedic Surgeon, they had set us up with, at the Ogden Clinic.

She didn't seem too upset.

As you can see, one of the big bones in her forearm, right above the wrist was broken badly, and offset.  

After seeing this xray at the Ortho's, it was decided, that Elle would need an out patient procedure to put the bones back into alignment.  She would then wear another splint for about 7 to 10 days, until the swelling went down.  Then they would check it again, and put a real cast on.

We had to wait 3 days, and on the 4th day, early in the morning would be her procedure, to put the bones together.
Now, I haven't had any experience with broken bones, but I thought it would be all done and in a cast that very first night after she broke it.  But that is not the case.  This stuff takes a while, and a lot of visits to the Dr.  We HAVE to get it right!
So the weekend was upon us, and we decided to take the girls to the movies.  An activity, that would keep Elle still, until we could have her procedure done.
We saw the Spongebob movie.  It was pretty good :)

It was also the weekend of the RV Show.  I look foward to it every year.  So much fun to walk through all the new trailers, and camping stuff!
So we went.  And tried to keep Elle from running, and falling!
I enjoyed it.  A nice distraction.

 A nice bigger one, that I really liked if I had lots of money, and a desire to pull something larger than ours.  Fun!  But in the end, I went home super happy about our trailer.  I really love our floor plan, fabrics, etc.. There wasn't anything I would have traded ours for, and that made me Happy!

 And even one for the Dog. 

 It was really hard to keep Elle from going to school before her procedure!  Infact, I couldn't.
But I did drive her, and pick her up.  I didn't want her riding the bus.
She is not aloud to lift or carry anything in her right hand.  And she couldn't get her arm in her coat anyway.  But she didn't want to miss her class Valentines Party!  She would have been crushed!

 When I took Elle to the Ortho that first time, we came home to Valentines Surprises from Chris!
He had bought all of us girls some Chocolates,  and there was a Brighton Bag waiting for me :)

 Meanwhile, with everything else going on, I have to keep walking.
I'm training to walk the Ogden Half Marathon again this year, and the show must go on.

 When Elle had her procedure, she was very nervous.  She grumbled and shook her head, and didn't want to cooperate.  She was just scared.  Nothing like this had ever happened to her before.
But they promised that when she woke up, her stuffed Tigger would have a cast that would match the one she would get a week later.  And he did.
Elle's nurse, was a man, about 6ft 5inches, and he had a curly mustache.
He looked like something out of a cowboy movie, but in scrubs.
He was so so good with Elle.  Very kind and gentle.  Very sweet.

And the first thing that Elle said to me when she woke up was,
"Mom, you were right, I didn't feel a thing."  So cute!
She didn't like the smell of the gas they gave her to put her to sleep though.
About half way home, she noticed that she couldn't feel her pinky finger.
I was nervous, wondering if she was swelling, but when I called the Dr. he said that they had numbed her finger to manipulate her arm.  I guess she didn't notice it was numb while we were there.
She would wear another splint for a week, and then get her real cast.

When we went to the Ortho about a week after Elle's procedure to get her cast, her bone had moved a little bit.  So while the Dr. was molding her cast to her arm, he was squeezing it, and moving it back.  Elle has been so Brave!  She has never once cried.  And she only said ouch a few times, while the Dr. did his thing.  Amazing!!  We are on a week to week basis for the next couple of weeks.  We keep checking to make sure the bones haven't moved.  If they do, we have to fix them as we go!  And after a couple more weeks, we can go to a shorter, thicker cast, that only goes up to her Elbow, for another 3 weeks.  I am amazed!  The first couple of days after it happened, I cried.  I was nervous for her to be put to sleep etc...  But everyone has taken such good care of Elle.  And I've learned that when you break a bone, it won't be fixed the very next day.  It's a process...  

Love my Brave little girl.  She doesn't let anything get her down.  

Now to keep her still for at least 5 more weeks, Yeah right!  :)
