Crazy Elle!

I totally thought that my kids were very well behaved. I mean, I try and keep an eye on things. You hear about other peoples kids all the time doing crazy things, like writing on the wall with permanent markers, or playing with their mom's lipstick etc.. etc.. There are a million stories like this.

Well, I am kind of crazy when it comes to keeping things clean, and in order, and not having these little (huge) things happening in my home. I know that what is insane to me, others would laugh at. But Elle gets into EVERYTHING!! I seriously have to keep my eyes on her 24/7! I even have a hard time getting in the shower, because who knows what I will find when I get out after only 10 minutes tops. Not to mention the fact, that we NEVER leave the bathroom doors open in our house!!

Elle is constantly into our DVD's. She likes to pull all of them out of their cases. I think she's going to ruin a lot of our movies. And then we went through the whole, climbing up on the kitchen table thing. I can't keep anything on my table. No napkins, Salt & Pepper, or Center Pieces. She will destroy them all! Mwuaaah!

Lately, her trick is to get onto my dresser, and get into my jewelry. So today, I moved it up onto the Tall dresser. Chris' dresser. So then she just finds something else on the dresser.....say, a cup of SeaShells, that Chris and I collected the last time we were at Bear Lake. I've been meaning to do something with them, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. So today, she dumps them out all over into my Rocking Chair. I guess it could have been worse. All I had to do was pick all of these tiny shells up, and vacuum everything. There was dirt all over. Or sand from the beach.

Please tell me, that she will get over this, "I have to get into EVERYTHING Phase", because if she doesn't, she may be locked in a padded Cell for a long, long, time :)

I used to laugh at people who put their chairs on the table to keep the kids from climbing up. I thought, can't you just teach them not to. And then I had another kid and everything went up high! So fun, I think they grow out of it.

Wish I had some advice, but I don't have any wisdom for you. My kids did/do all that. We had permanent black marker all over the wall of the office and the kitchen chairs. The worst was leaving a whole gallon of red punch on the table and little hands got up and it ended up all over my kitchen hardwood floors. And last night...Nicholas spilled booger slime all over the upstairs hallway carpet. I learned it doesn't come out. I think I'll call Fat Cats and tell them to stop giving out that prize. (he...he) I guess I've learned to not let it bother me. I have to tell myself, 'it's just stuff.' Good luck with Elle.

Oh man Brighton! I hear ya! My kids are the best at finding the things that I say, "Okay I'm just putting this here for a second, then I'll put it in a safer place." We have our dvd's locked up - but lots of them are already scratched! We have to keep our kitchen garbage can on the counter because there's no cabinet to put it in and they would dump it out....honestly, it's never ending at our house. But you have two sweet little girls. I have 3 off the wall kids....I'm sure you'll see that day a lot sooner than I will!!! :)

I'm sorry but I am laughing so hard as I read this, and only have one thing to say WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!!! Really, Elle is mild compared with we get around here:)

We have no up high spaces left in our house. My boys find everything. Jordan has outgrown it, well somewhat. Her messes are more mild than the boys. Just yesterday Landon dumped a box of shredded mini wheats all over the floor while Spencer lined up a bout 20 CD boxes on the floor-I was in the bedroom talking to Darin as he changed his clothes from work. I can't keep anything on our table, either. I had to paint one bedroom to get rid of Jordan's lovely portrait in sharpie marker. It is funny how they are so different-at least Bree isn't so inquisitive.

Here's my advice-Just strip her down to her diaper and let Elle get good and messy with finger paint, or something like that once in a while to maybe satisfy a curiosity:) (I know, may be hard for you to try....just do it, it's really fun!!!)

Of, motherhood! I used to think that I would have these perfect kids that never threw fits in grocery stores, never wrecked my walls and never made huge messes. What a pipe dream! My biggest conquest wasdrawing on the walls. It was always with crayon, but my walls are painted somewhat dark and when I would scrub it off, the paint would come of too. So frustrating!!

My only consolation to you is that sweet little Elle will grow out of this. I guess its all part of being a toddler:)
