Bree is so awesome! Today she Amazed me even more :) At her school, they were having a Fun Run Fundraiser for next years field trips. There was a 5k and a 1k for the smaller kids. A couple days before the event, I still hadn't signed us up. I mean, lets face it. Except for a few walks around the neighborhood, we've taken in the past couple of weeks, it's been a year since I've worked out! But my girl LOVES to RUN!! We play all kinds of games in the backyard. Bree will ask me to give her a running assignment, like....run around the apple tree and then come back. Or run around the swing set, and then back. I will count slowly, and she will try and make it back to me before I reach the number 10.
So Thursday, as I was picking her up from school, she says to me, "Did you sign us up, and are we going to the fun run on Saturday?" She said "Please please please, we have to do it!" Well, #1 Daddy was working overtime and would be working on Saturday, #2 I don't run, #3 What would I do with Elle, #4 the whole idea just sounded like too much work, etc...etc.. But, she is so wonderful, and wants to participate in everything, and how could I let her down? So I got us registered. Now the only thing was, could she do it by herself? I mean, I would just hold her back! But they were going out on the street for a while, and I wouldn't be able to see her, and would she be ok? My tiny Kindergarten girl, all alone? Ug!!! But today we left Elle at grandma's, Chris went to work, and Bree and I headed to the run.
I was standing there with her at the start, but when they said go, she took off all by herself, with so many other people. I was nervous for her. I just told her to follow everyone else. To be careful, and I would be cheering her on. And she did it!!!! I was worried for a little bit, while I could see people returning from the street run, and she still wasn't coming. But sure enough, here she came. And she was giving it her all. A long run for a little girl. She was so excited to be running! Man, I am so proud of her!!! She has taught me a lot today. My goal for next year, is that we run the race together! :)
Bree all checked in, and her number is on!

Congrats to Bree! What a great accomplishment. :)
And what a great mom for letting her do it, even when it wasn't easy.
Good for her. It's so good to teach the importance of exercise at a young age!
