A Sunday Drive and the Eclipse

Yesterday we decided to go for a Sunday Drive.  We packed our lunch, and headed for the hills.  We drove up the Mirror Lake Hwy in the Uinta's.  We went to the Provo River Falls and then on to Mirror Lake.  The smell of PINE was insane.  Oh, you can only get smells like that in the mountains!  There was a little bit of snow at the falls, but when we got to Mirror Lake, there was a lot of snow.  We had planned to walk the trail around the Lake, but that wasn't going to happen.

A picnic in the back of the car :)

Provo River Falls.  A nice Lady took a picture of the whole family....

There are many falls, so we just kept walking down the trail to see all of them.  I love how you can pretty much walk right up to them.  There was a lot of cold runoff still coming down...

We found an awesome, huge, rock with lots of green moss.  It seemed like a great place to take a picture!

On to Mirror Lake...  The girls found sticks and made some snowballs, and just had an overall great time exploring....

I made my way out onto a rock that was surrounded by water.  The Lake is still covered in a thick slush.  It will be a while before my Dad can come up and go fishing with his friends....

Chris was tempting the odds.  Bree thought she was going to get out there on that Log, but mommy had  other ideas......  We had a great time yesterday.  Time spent outdoors.  Our favorite past time!!  I could just see the energy returning to Chris.  Like a kid in a candy store!  It makes us happy :)

And when we returned home, the Lunar Eclipse was happening.  Chris found a black plastic lid to one of our cups sitting on the kitchen counter, and we used that to view the Eclipse.  I mean, it was thick black plastic, but you know how bright the Eclipse was.... when we put it up to our eyes, you could actually view the whole thing!  Amazing....  I took these three pictures of the Eclipse through the black plastic lid.  By no means professional, but it worked :)  ha..ha..

Looks like a fun day! I didn't even know that lunar eclipse was occurring. Where was I? Fun pics!

I love that Chris likes the outdoors so much. He is a man after my own heart!
