Helping Others

This Sunday I teach my first Sunday School Lesson to my new class....the 13 year olds. YIKES!! What? Is what I said when they called me. These kids probably know more about the gospel than I do! Are you crazy. But, knowing that they would probably just find me some other calling, I accepted :) ha..ha..

The lesson is called, "Look beyond yourself". What, something I feel I don't do very well. People are always doing things for me. I admit it. I've been spoiled at times :) And I love it. Chris just tells me I'm focused. I think that's a nice way of putting it. Sometimes I feel like there are opportunities missed. I mean, it just doesn't even occur to me that I might actually know when a person is in need, and take that step.

Tonight Chris asked me if I had read over my lesson. I said yes. He asked what it was about, and I told him. And then I said....Honey, I'm not the best person to teach this lesson. I mean...do I even ever help anyone? And then he said....Didn't you just take Bread to your sister, Soup to your mom, and cut your Dad's hair tonight? Oh yeah....I totally forgot. But I wasn't even thinking of it like that. It was just a fun quick visit to my parents. You know, because I'm closer now, and I can go over any time I want :) yeah....I love it.

I guess I'm feeling a little bit better about Sunday now.

I'm not a totally horrible person. It seams easy to serve the people we know. So maybe my next focus is going to be on trying to be prompted to know when someone I don't know so well, might need something from me. That's going to be way hard.

I think being a Mom is ALL about service. And the rewards are SO GREAT!!!

It is easy to forget how much we serve the people around us. :) You are a sweet heart. I am lucky to have you as a sister in law. GOOD LUCK with your lesson and new calling. What a great opportunity to grow. :) Have fun tonight!

Brighton, you may not think it's a service, but for me your blog is a service. You are always so upbeat, cheerful, look on the "bright" side of life, and most of all you are one of the most grateful mothers I know. When you talk about being a mom, it INSPIRES me!!! When I'm frustrated with my kids, and I ready your blog, I am reminded of how LUCKY I am to have these 3 little beings in my life. The way you talk about Bree and Elle is truly amazing!!

So there-you serve me by doing awesome blog posts!! I've been thinking I need to tell you that for a long time. Some day I wish I could live in Utah so we could hang out:)

You'll do an awesome job on your lesson!! And your class will soon grow to love you!!!
